“MY KIDS LOVE camp play!”, Kristy Speers

When Kristy Speers sent her son off to camp, she wasn’t sure what to expect.

“Jackson LOVED it,” Kristy recalls. “The friends, the fun – he grew so much in a week.” The Speers have since sent their other son to Camp PLAY, with similar results for the past four years. “Camp PLAY rocks!

  • campers have the option of attending one, two or three weeks of camp
  • weeks do not need to be consecutive
  • Trained counselors
  • directors are certified in CPR
  • Scholarships
  • lifeguard on duty at all times during swimming
  • running in conjunction with fair (fine arts in rockbridge)
  • families attending FAIR may purchase lunch from local vendor

Camp PLAY will take place at Washington and Lee University.  The hub of activity will be in the gym playing PE games.  Camp PLAY has access to two university gyms, a pool, the dance studio, racquetball courts, and Canaan Green.

Drop-off and pick-up will be on the top level of the parking garage.

Camp PLAY is a half day camp designed to allow children a safe place to move, compete, and exercise in fun and innovative ways.

Activities at Camp PLAY are structured to teach the importance of cooperation and teamwork.  Each afternoon will offer the campers a variety of fun, healthy exercises and games that focus on movement, nutrition, flexibility, balance, and self-improvement.

What is

Camp PLAY?

for     little ones

"What a dream team!", Karla Murdock

"Camp PLAY has been Will's favorite camp for the past five years.  He begs to stay until the last possible moment of the day until all of the other children have left because he doesn't want to miss a minute of the fun!  He comes home exhausted and fully played out.  Although the camp is all about playing, the experience builds teamwork, self-regulation, and good sportsmanship as well.  It is a privilege to have such a program in Lexington with such a thoughtful, developmentally sensitive, active program designed by an elementary school physical education teacher and a college university coach and professor."

Camp PLAY gives younger children (ages 4-5) the chance to enjoy movement opportunities in shorter, more manageable bursts. Campers are grouped by age, which better meets the needs and safety for all campers.

Each day,  our youngest campers play age appropriate games, read books, have snack, and craft time.  They also swim and dance.
